Pencil

My artwork is a portrait of a women with black hair who is kinda making a face, she has her eyes wide open and her lips pocked out. The most obvious element is value. The most obvious principle is contrast.

To create this piece the media I used was pencil. I used the grid lines to map out my piece and make sure everything was in the right place. I used cross hatching when shading to get rid of the lines and get the correct value needed. Then I used contrast in all the darker areas to make them stand out.

My inspiration for this piece was to see how well I could do on the eyes because they were so open, and to pick something that I know I could do well. The emotion I tried to convey was that she was really focused on the camera.

My goal as a artist was to make it look as realistic as possible. I did reach my goal because it does look exactly like the reference, everything is in the correct spot and everything is shaded correctly.

Overall I think this piece turned out very well. I learned that start off shading light because its harder to light areas up then it is to darken them. I like this piece because it shows how good I am at portraits. This piece will influence my future art because it will show me how to get every little detail in when i'm doing future portraits.

Cross Contour

My piece is a cross contour flower with pen and ink. I added paint to make the flower more colorful and interesting. You can see the movement and the texture very well in this piece.

My piece was made with watercolor and a pen. I first sketch out my piece then applied a light watercolor wash to sum of the petals and the background. Then I added the cross contour lines to get form. I also added line quality to see the movement better. Last I went through and erase all the pencil lines.

I was inspired the other flower pieces I had seen so I wanted to create one. This piece really doesn't have a meaning or express anything.

My goal as a artist with this piece is to be able to see the form and movement. This piece did help me reach my goal because it looks real and its neat.

when creating this piece I learned that you should always use a pencil first until you know everything is right then add the ink. This will influence my future art because I will practice till I know everything is right and I will have less mistakes.

Master Style

My piece is photo of Rihanna in cubism style. The tittle of this piece is LOUD because that's the name of the album that she used this photo for. You can see all the geometric shapes and the form in my piece.

I used acrylic paint to create this piece. I used the layering technique to get solid colors. When creating this piece everywhere their was a curve I used sharp line to make the geometric shapes.

Pablo Picasso inspired me to create this piece in cubism style. I also chose this style because nobody was doing it and I wanted my piece to be different. I added a little more modern style to cubism so it would look so old. I think this piece just expresses a calm feeling.

My goal as a artist is just to get better and take on challenges. This piece helped me reach my goal because it was something I never done before and it takes a lot of thinking.

When creating this artwork I learned to get my idea and what i''m going to do in my head so i'll have enough time to finish it. This piece influenced my future artwork because it taught me to paste myself.

Oil Pastel

My oil pastel piece is a picture of a lion in water. The tittle of this piece is called the lion. The most obvious element is that the lion is white.

My piece was made with oil pastels. Some tools I used was a blending stomp to put details in. Some techniques I used was scraffito to get the texture of the lion and make the hair stand out.

I was inspired by other oil pastel photos that I saw so I wanted to try one myself. My piece doesn't really express a meaning or emotion.

My goal as a artist is to learn how to blend the pastel and make it look like a actual painting. This piece didn't really help me reach my goal because it's not my best and you can tell I used oil pastels.

From creating this piece I learned if I want to use scrafitto technique make sure I apply the bottom color with heavy pressure. The final piece is not really what I imagined but it's okay. This piece will influence my future art because it will show me how to blend well and take my time so I can get what I really want in my art.

Water Color

My piece is a picture of the ocean with rocks and trees and the sky. It is obvious that the wind is blowing like there's a storm coming. You can see the variety of colors I used in the sky. I made the rock darker to show that they were closer so you could see the perspective.

I used water color paint for the piece. I used the light wash technique for my background. I used masking fluid to cover the spots that I wanted to be lighter than the others. I also used the wet on dry technique to put all the details in.

I wanted to do this piece because I don't really do landscapes that much so I wanted to challenge myself. Water color paint is a hard media to use and i felt like a landscape picture would be best for the media.

My goals of an artist is to understand how to use watercolor and get to know watercolor artist so that I can use it better. This piece did help me a little because I know the more I use it the better I going to get.

From creating this piece I learned that water color is not the best media to use if you want to make something look real. My final piece is what I imagined. This piece will influence my future because I will learn from the mistakes I made this time.

Collage

My piece is a green Luna moth with a black background. Its obvious that I used the rip method. I used a variety of green colors to show movement on the moth.

The media I used for this piece is magazine paper and glue. I ripped the paper in to smaller pieces and then glued them on. I used layer to make sure all part of the paper was covered.

My inspiration for this piece was the different color and designs that was on the moth. I thought it would look really cool with the media I was using.

My goals as a artist is just to improve and try new thing and get better. This piece did help me to reach my goal because I had never did a collage piece before or a moth.

While creating this piece I learned that collage pieces are really time consuming but its easier and faster to rip your pieces then to cut them. This piece will influence my future art because it help me paste myself.

Coil Pot

My pot is six inches with different types of coils all around it. My pot is more like a cup instead of a bowl.

My pot was made with water based clay. I used coil and slab method to create my pot. I used the slip and score techniques so that each coil could stick together. And i used the blending technique to make my pot more stronger.

Last semester I done a tiki sculpture so I was looking forward to doing the coil pot this semester.

My goal as a artist is to learn new more easier techniques to deal with clay and this project help me with that.

Overall my piece turned out the way I wanted and i,m happy with it.

Foreshortening

My piece is a bugs eye view of a mushroom. My piece is foreshortened because the stem is more bigger because its closer and top of the mushroom is kind of leaning back so its more smaller and less detailed .

For this piece I used color pencil prismas. I used white first with every color and I did light layers of white and which ever color I needed. When I was finish with the layers I blended the color together with hard pressure.

I was inspired by the photography of the bugs eye view. I thought it was a very cool perspective. There no emotion or feeling in my piece.

My goals as a artist is just to improve and get better. This project helped me because the first time I used color pencils I did't use them right because I started off with heavy pressure; but with this piece I knew that I had to start off light and then furnish at the end.

I leaned how to use prismas the correct way. My final piece is what I imagined it would be.

Art Show

My artwork is a three piece basket set. I used black and white color to create the contrast of the set so that the designs could catch the viewers eye.

To create this set I boxes and cups and put plaster over them. I first had to lay some plastic wrap around the objects so that when the plaster dried i could just take it right off.  As i applied each plaster I laid it on there and smooth each piece out with my hands so there wouldn't be any wholes. Then I used acrylic paint to add some color and designs.

My great grandma inspired me to do this because she was really into arts and craft and if she could she would always try to make things before she had to go out and buy it.

My goal was to get more familiar with using plaster and learn how to use it better. I do think I reached my goal with this piece.

I learned not to apply a bunch of layer at one time and after each layer make sure it smooth out and dried up before applying another one.
